As dry conditions continue throughout the KMMO listening area, the National Weather Service is encouraging area residents to be mindful of the conditions this fall.
NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Jonathan Kurtz says much of the area is under severe drought conditions due to the inconsistent weather patterns and lack of precipitation from earlier in the summer. He advises area residents to be careful when cleaning up brush and conducting controlled burns.
Kurtz explains that the area might see some relief in the middle of next week.
The dry spell began in mid-July, but the National Weather Service is hoping the coming weeks will bring plenty of rainfall to improve conditions throughout Missouri. Residents should be aware of any burn bans or advisories in their area before burning.
