The Kansas City Chiefs’ defense kept the Las Vegas Raiders at bay while the offense did its job, holding off the AFC West archrivals in a 27-20 victory Sunday, Oct. 27 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Patrick Mahomes went 27-for-38 for 262 yards including two touchdowns and an interception. One of the two touchdowns was a five-yard pass to tight end Travis Kelce for his first score of the season. The touchdown catch was one of ten passes that Kelce hauled in to lead the Chiefs offense with 90 yards. Xavier Worthy had a touchdown catch in the fourth quarter to go with his four catches for 37 yards, while Kareem Hunt ran in the first score as part of his 21 totes for 59 yards.
The Raiders kept it close, with Gardner Minshew throwing 24 out of 30 passes for 209 yards and two scores. However, he was sacked five times for 14 yards, and had the ball stripped from him in the fourth quarter that Dru Tranquill recovered, setting up the Chiefs’ final score. Harrison Butker connected on field goals from 42 and 24 yards, matched by Daniel Carlson’s boots of 54 and 32.
The Chiefs remain the NFL’s last unbeaten team, increasing their record to 7-0. They return to Arrowhead Stadium for their next two contests, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stepping onto GEHA Field for Monday Night Football on Nov. 4.
