The Concordia Emergency Management Planning Committee held its first meeting on Tuesday, October 29.

The committee started by electing officers, selecting Dr. Theresa Christian as Chairman, and Dr. Sarah Kirchhoff as Secretary. The committee then reviewed the city’s current emergency operations plans. City Administrator Dale Klussman said the committee knew they would need to make some changes to the plan during its future meetings.

The committee also discussed communication and the components of the new plan, as well as the idea of annexing the emergency plans of other entities like the Concordia R-2 School District into the city’s new plan.

The next committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, November 21.
