A Macon woman has died, and two other residents suffered serious injuries, after a two-vehicle collision Tuesday, Oct. 29 along U.S. Route 63 in Macon County.

The accident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway about four miles south of Macon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 79-year-old Shirley Fraley was a passenger in a car driving northbound when a vehicle backed into the roadway from a private driveway, resulting in the collision. Fraley was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles—53-year-old Dewayne Fraley and 55-year-old Sandra Williams—suffered serious injuries. Dewayne Fraley was flown to a Columbia hospital, while Williams was taken to a Moberly hospital for treatment. Troopers say none of the three people involved in the accident were wearing their seat belts.
