24-1030-mock-election-check-in

About 120 students from three Saline County high schools took part in a mock election Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the Martin Community Center in Marshall.

The election featured juniors and seniors from Malta Bend, Marshall, and Santa Fe high schools going through the process of checking into the polls and casting a ballot. The mock election was organized by Marshall senior Michelle Lin, a member of the school’s DECA chapter.

Lin took on the “We Voted Today” project that was started last year by Jackson Russell, who now attends college. Russell explains what he hopes his peers learned from taking part.

Lin and Russell coordinated the mock election with Saline County Clerk Brittni Burton, with several county officials filling in as poll workers. Among the voters was Lilly Plattner, a junior at Santa Fe.

Students utilized county election equipment in the mock election, with the clerk’s office releasing results Wednesday afternoon. Click here to view the mock election results.
