A Kansas City man suffered serious injuries after his semi-truck left the northbound lanes of U.S. Route 65 on Wednesday, Oct. 30 south of Marshall.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the accident north of Mount Olive Road around 10 a.m. According to the department, the semi driven by 29-year-old Gerardo Velasquez Valladares went off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign. The truck then returned to the roadway and overturned. Velasquez Valladares was taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment. Troopers say he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
