A Keytesville man is in a Columbia hospital after his utility vehicle was struck by a pickup truck on a Chariton County roadway Sunday, Nov. 3.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 3:45 p.m. on Route 5, about five miles north of Keytesville. According to the report, the John Deere Gator’s 83-year-old driver had slowed down to turn from the northbound lane, only for the pickup behind him to collide. The man sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Troopers say the Gator’s driver did not have the proper safety gear on. The driver of the truck, also from Keytesville, had no reported injuries.
Per a recent policy change, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is now withholding the names of persons involved in a motor vehicle accident, citing an increase in attempts by scammers to defraud accident victims and their families.
