An upgrade of the Missouri Department of Revenue’s motor vehicle and driver license system will result in offices around the state closing Friday, Nov. 8.

The department is installing a new system that will modernize record keeping, allow for additional e-services including document submission and fee payment, and integrate the department’s data with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The upgrades will also allow the implementation of mobile driver licenses in Spring 2025, and allow the highway patrol to offer the Class F written test in 20 languages including American Sign Language.

As part of the upgrades, revenue offices across Missouri will stop processing driver licenses Wednesday, with some offices closing early Thursday. Motor vehicle transactions will still be processed as normal, as upgrades to this part of the department’s system are not scheduled until July 2026.

Some revenue offices will close early Thursday, while all offices will close Friday. Offices will remain closed until Tuesday, Nov. 12, following the Veterans Day holiday.
