Saline County voters stuck with the names already on the ballot for two county races.

According to unofficial results from the Saline County Clerk’s office, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden cruised to re-election, fending off a challenge from write-in candidate Wayne Keehart. Gooden received 2662 votes, good for 76.38% of the electorate, while the total number of write-ins was 823. Jessica Adcock-Goodman remains the Saline County Assessor with 82.69% of the vote. She received 6679 votes while write-ins including Claudia Kays picked up 1398.

Daniel Kirchoff will become Saline County Sheriff, defeating independent candidate Mike Thomas by a vote of 6616 to 2272. Monte Fenner ran unopposed for Southern District Commissioner, while Jared Brewer had no challenger to remain county treasurer. Also receiving another term in office in Saline County are public administrator Paula Barr and coroner Willie Harlow. Josh Taylor had no opposition in his bid to a judgeship in the 15th judicial circuit.

Saline County voters overwhelmingly supported a measure to grant citizens aged 62 and older to secure a property tax credit on their primary residence that prevents increases. 7594 voted in favor, or 84.65% of the vote. Proposition L passed handily in Marshall by a 2898-1270 vote, providing a quarter-cent sales tax to fund the relocation of the public library to a new location south of the square. And Blackburn voters voted 78-26 to allow businesses to sell liquor by the drink with at least five percent alcohol content.

In state races, 73 percent of Saline County voters back Blackburn native Kurtis Gregory in his bid to become the next state senator for the 21st district. Gregory claimed 6742 votes to Jim Bates’ 2384. Mark Nolte received 6374 votes to Glenda Bainbridge’s 2648 to receive Saline County’s nod to succeed Gregory in House District 51. Of the 9222 votes cast for governor, Mike Kehoe claimed 6425 votes in Saline County to Crystal Quade’s 2582. Statewide Republican candidates received over 64 percent of the county vote, while Mark Alford had nearly 71 percent of the vote in his bid for a second term as fourth district congressman.

A total of 9395 ballots were cast in Saline County, resulting in a voter turnout of 68.53%.
