Three people from Texas, including a toddler, were injured after their tractor-trailer went into the median of Interstate 70 on Thursday, Nov. 7 near Boonville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred just after 12:45 p.m. near a mobile work zone. According to the patrol, the 41-year-old driver attempted to change lanes as she approached the work zone near mile marker 102 in the eastbound lanes. The Freightliner started to slide as it went off the left side of the interstate, prompting the driver to overcorrect. The vehicle then went off the left side of the road and struck the median cable. The cab came to rest across both westbound lanes, while the trailer disconnected and fell onto its side back in the eastbound lanes.

The driver suffered serious injuries, while a two-year-old boy in her cab sustained moderate injuries. A 43-year-old man received minor injuries. All three were taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment. Troopers say none of the three were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
