The St Louis Blues allowed five goals in the third period Saturday, Nov. 9, as the Washington Capitals ran roughshod over the Blues 8-1 at Enterprise Center.
Scott Perunovich recorded his first goal as a Blue just over seven minutes into the game, tying things up at one apiece. However, it was all Washington after the intermission, as Alex Ovechkin netted his first of two goals in the game. Connor McMichael also had two goals in the contest, which saw goalkeeper Jordan Binnington remain throughout the game despite allowing all eight goals. The Blues won 54 percent of faceoffs but could not convert on a power play, while allowing 27 shots on goal.
The Blues stumble to sixth in the Central Division standings, remaining on 14 points. The homestand continues Tuesday when Boston pay a visit.
