The Sedalia City Council and Sedalia Police Department recognized one of the city’s officers last Monday for her efforts to save the life of a cadet at a training academy.

The council commended officer Neva Overstreet at the beginning of their meeting Nov. 4. City administrator Kelvin Shaw says that Overstreet is deserving of the praise.

Overstreet was an instructor at a course in Warrensburg on October 1st when Cadet Kaylee Sanders went into cardiac arrest during a training exercise. Overstreet’s quick response saved Sanders’ life, and Sanders was present last week to help recognize Overstreet.
