The Marceline City Council agreed to a request Wednesday, Nov. 13 to expand the size of the city’s recreation and park board.
City manager Jesse Wallis says the request came from members of the board, who sought to increase their membership by two. The council passed the ordinance making that change. Meanwhile, the council tabled a request to accept a donation for the installation of new playground equipment at Ripley Park.
Discussion continued on the feasibility of installing the dome over the city pool for future seasons. Wallis says those discussions are early.
Wallis says he initially estimated an annual cost of $120,000 to set up and maintain the dome. Also at Wednesday night’s meeting, the council discussed areas along Main Street USA where visibility is an issue for pedestrian and driver safety.
