A desire to see more Sedalia residents utilize a recycling program was a key part of a strategic planning presentation made by the city’s sanitation division of the public works department at a city council meeting earlier this month.

Justin Bray represented Public Works at the council’s Nov. 4 meeting, where he presented the department’s priority list for the next fiscal year budget. City administrator Kelvin Shaw says a revived recycling program is one of the items on the sanitation division’s wish list.

Sedalia moved from utilizing dropoff locations to curbside recycling in the fall of 2018, but did away with collection two years later.

City departments are presenting their priority lists to the council as part of Sedalia’s budgeting process. The council will meet in January to determine what priorities to pursue ahead of adopting the next fiscal year budget by the end of March.
