Brandon Saad gave the St Louis Blues the lead twice Thursday, Nov. 14, but the team was unable to hold onto it, falling to the Buffalo Sabres in overtime 4-3 at Buffalo.

Saad’s first goal came three minutes into the contest when Brayden Schenn set him up with a slap shot to open the scoring. Buffalo’s Zach Benson and Ryan McLeod responded to give the Sabres the lead at the end of the first period. Pavel Buchnevich brought the game level five minutes into the second, followed by Saad’s second goal with 3:45 remaining in the second to give the Blues a 3-2 lead. Alex Tuch had the lone goal in the third for Buffalo, sending the game into overtime. Rasmus Dahlin picked up the game winner on a power-play 93 seconds into the extra frame.

The Blues won 64 percent of faceoffs but struggled to capitalize, seeing 24 of their shots on goal saved while giving the puck away 12 times. The losing streak has hit four, but the Blues pick up a point for taking the game to overtime. They remain sixth in the Central Division on 15 points. The Blues visit Boston on Saturday afternoon, with puck drop at noon.
