The Carrollton Town Council decided to use the remainder of its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to help install a new playground equipment on the lot north of 6th Street and Sloan Street.
Carrollton Mayor Susan Bliss said the city had a little more than $9,000 in ARPA funding that needed to be distributed before December 31, 2024. Bliss says the council decided to allocate that money to help install new playground equipment and memorial honoring Russ Mayden.
Bliss also said the Park Board is hoping to raise more money to a new playground surface on the lot. The board wants to replace the woodchips at the playground with something more resilient.
