The Lexington City Council discussed allocating the city’s remaining American Rescue Plan Act funding during its most recent meeting.
The city has approximately $245,000 of ARPA funding that needs to be allocated by the end of the year. Lexington’s Budget Committee met on November 6 and created a priority list to help spend the remaining funds. City Administrator Shawnna Funderburk said the council approved the list and will use the ARPA funding to improve wastewater infrastructure.
In other news, the council discussed the potential removal of a tree on 19th Street. The tree has grown into the street and is displacing the concrete of the sidewalk. Funderburk says the city is still looking for the best way to resolve this issue.
The council took no action, but plans to hire a tree arborist to take a look at the tree.
