Shirley was born in St. Louis, MO, on September 3, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Charles E. Corso and Elfrieda Hoffmeister Corso.  She moved to Marshall at a very young age where she was a resident of Marshall Habilitation Center.  While there she enjoyed working with and making crafts.  Shirley was moved into a home with housemates and direct care staff who became her local family that loved and cared for her for many, many years.  She enjoyed singing hymns like “Jesus Loves Me” and “Deep and Wide”, as well as her favorite song, “How Much is That Doggie in the Window.”  She also found happiness in getting her hair done on a weekly basis, when she was able, and having her nails painted to make her look “pretty.”  Shirley enjoyed the Habilitation Center dances and parties, going on rides in the van, looking at horses, and her coffee.  When it came to celebrations, she wanted to make sure that her birthday was celebrated, immensely, and also enjoyed celebrating Halloween and Christmas.  The care staff and housemates, all who were part of Shirley’s family, will miss her greatly.

In addition to her care staff and housemates, Shirley is survived by two sisters, Rose Prinzi of St. Charles, MO and Jeanne Byerly of Catawissa, MO; and their families.
