
Matthew Robert Caviness, 42, of Malta Bend, MO, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Pastor Ralph Varner officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born October 8, 1982, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, he was the son of William Ray Caviness and Elva Anne Stephens Caviness who survive of Malta Bend. Matt was a 2001 graduate of Malta Bend High School and then earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences from Central Missouri State University, now University of Central Missouri. He worked for the state of Kansas in youth behavioral services, the pharmacy at The Market in Sweet Springs, and most recently was working as a care giver. Matt was involved in Boy Scouts when he was younger, and was an excellent trumpeter which led him to participate in the Marshall Municipal Band.
In addition to his parents, Bill and Anne, he is survived by one brother, Josh Caviness (Ashley) of Marshall; two nephews, Stephen and Derek; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.
