The Missouri Department of Transportation will field public comments over the next three weeks on a proposed redesign of a southern Howard County intersection,

MoDOT is planning to change the intersection of U.S. Route 40 with Route 5 south of New Franklin from its current triangle configuration into a standard T intersection with added turn lanes. MoDOT says the intersection has seen 13 accidents in the past ten years, including a serious injury crash that injured two people, and three other crashed where six people were injured.

The public can view the proposed design on MoDOT’s website, as well as submit public comments on the proposal.  The deadline to submit comments is Dec. 13.

MoDOT plans to led the contract out for bids in February, with a projected project completion date of Dec. 1, 2025.
