The New Franklin R-I School Board gave approval last week to the district’s summer school curriculum.

At last Wednesday’s meeting, the board agreed to keep using the Summer Journey program. Superintendent Benji Dorson tells KMMO News that New Franklin has used Summer Journey for six years, and that the program provides an all-inclusive curriculum with several different modules.

Also last week, New Franklin’s school board continued discussion on plans to purchase another school vehicle. Dorson says the district is looking to spend around $25,000 on a vehicle that can carry at least seven passengers. The board also discussed the status of bond issue projects including roof, HVAC, tuckpointing, and kitchen renovations.

New Franklin also confirmed Dec. 10-31 as filing dates for two seats that are up for election this April. The seats are currently held by Kevin Beaman and Kara Schnell. New Franklin’s school board next meets Dec. 18.
