A three-goal third period proved to be the difference in a 5-2 win for the St Louis Blues on Monday, Nov. 25 against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, a successful debut for new manager Jim Mongtomery.
Zach Bolduc picked up his first two goals of the season. The center gave the Blues their first lead of the game four-and-a-half minutes into the second period after the Rangers were unable to clear the puck away from goal. His second goal came halfway through the third, when his snap shot made its way into the top corner of the net. Brayden Schenn netted the game winner earlier in the third, while Jordan Kyrou opened the Blues scoring in the first period and Pavel Buchnevich claimed an empty-net goal to seal the win for the Blues. Will Cuylle scored both of the Rangers’ goals.
The Blues out-shot the Rangers 43-29. They’re now fifth in the Central Division with 21 points. Their trip through the Big Apple concludes Wednesday night across the Hudson in New Jersey, when the Blues face the Devils at the Prudential Center.
