The Glasgow R-II School District is in need of a new secretary for the next school year, as a longtime presence in the district will retire this summer.
The Glasgow Board of Education last Wednesday, Nov. 20 accepted the resignation notice of Debbie Lyons, who has worked for the district for 40 years. Superintendent Stacey Kottman says Lyons’ experience and institutional knowledge will be difficult to replace.
Kottman says the district hopes to have Lyons’ successor hired next spring to allow her to help train. The Glasgow school board also accepted the resignation of Lydia Burroughs as a part-time paraprofessional and approved Jamie Thies’ request to relinquish her role as the Parents as Teachers coordinator.
Also last week, the school board accepted a bid from Gary Schaefer for the industrial arts classroom table saw the district listed for sale earlier this fall, and approved the renewal assessment for insurance from the Missouri United School Insurance Consortium (MUSIC) totaling $105,735.
The Glasgow School Board next meets Dec. 18.
