Marshall has been awarded the Community Empowerment Service Grant from Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC).

The grant is a 60/40 matching service grant, worth $30,800 for the purpose of providing training, mentoring, and technical services Marshall’s stakeholders with an end goal of establishing a local Main Street program to implement downtown revitalization in Marshall’s historic commercial districts.

Marshall Main Street President Rebecca Adams and Vice President Scott Guthrie spoke to KMMO News about the importance of this grant and the impact the Main Street Program could have in Marshall.

Marshall Main Street early goals include preserving Marshall’s historic buildings and bringing businesses to the Marshall Square. A town hall will also be held in Marshall in early 2025 to give residents the opportunity to give their input regarding future projects.

The exact date and time of the town hall is still to be determined. During the next two years, MMSC and Marshall’s stakeholders will engage the entire community through on-site visits that guide the development of the Marshall Main Street program.
