
Sales tax collections cooled during October for Saline County, while use tax revenue jumped during the month.
Figures released by the Missouri Department of Revenue were presented by Saline County Treasurer Jared Brewer during last week’s county commission meeting. $109,001.13 were remitted to the county in sales tax revenue, down 13 percent from an unusually hot September and two percent behind the same month a year ago. Similar figures were posted for the law enforcement and economic development sales taxes.
However, use tax collections during the month enjoyed a 57 percent spike compared to the previous year. The $96,522.99 collected in October was also up 10 percent from the previous month.
Year-to-date, sales tax collections in Saline County total $1,278,670.67, up five percent from the previous year. Use tax collections have already surpassed last year’s total at $968,014.54.
