
Robert Dewey “Bob” Simmons Sr., 75, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Rev. Claude Fields and William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Born September 1, 1949, in Salina, KS, he was the son of the late George Dewey Simmons Jr. and Evelyn Lightfoot Simmons. On May 31, 1970, he married Beverly Medcalf who survives of the home. Bob lived in Marshall most of his life and retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation after 30 years of service, and along with his parents, co-owned and operated D & D Small Engines in Marshall. Following his retirement Bob had worked at the Fireworks Outlet at Marshall Junction and has spent the last several years working at Plowboys BBQ in Marshall where he was well known for his fish frying. He was a longtime member of Olivet Free Will Baptist Church in Marshall where he served as a deacon until it closed. Following the closing of Olivet, he and Bev became members at Marshall Baptist Temple. Bob was an avid hunter, enjoyed the outdoors, and was a “collector” of many things.
In addition to his wife, Beverly; he is survived by three children: Stacy Turner (Larry) of Malta Bend, Robert Dewey “Robbie” Simmons Jr. (Anissa) of Marshall and Jamie McMellen (Bill) of Marshall; eight grandchildren: Kolby Steed Bosley (Jacob), Trever Simmons (Adriana), Chloe McMellen, Emma Harms (Steven), Josh Steed, Milee McMellen, Jaxon Simmons and Baylea McMellen; one great-grandson, Kohen Simmons (with another due in April); one sister, Linda Harlow (Mike) of Marshall; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
