
Larry Dean McGinnis, 84, of Concordia, MO, died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Born July 18, 1940, in Higginsville, he was the son of the late Forrest Edgar McGinnis and Irene Ahrentschild McGinnis Brockman. Larry lived in the Lafayette County area most of his life and was a 1957 graduate of Higginsville High School. On September 19, 1959, he married Marian Limback who preceded him in death on February 16, 2009. Larry worked in the warehouse for Consolidated Freight and was later promoted to vice-president which took the family to Oklahoma for a short while. Along with his brother, Harlan, he did custom harvest work for several years and then Larry became an owner/operator truck driver. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia.
Survivors include two sons, Rusty McGinnis (Pat) and Todd McGinnis (Lori), all of Concordia; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, David McGinnis (Penny) of Blue Springs; his significant other, Marci Dinse; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Earl Brockman; one son, Jeff McGinnis; four brothers: Harlan “Mac”, James “Kessner”, Roger “Scoops” and Ronald “Pete” McGinnis; and two sisters, Phyllis Thorp and Sue McGinnis.
