The St Louis Blues piled onto the recent woes of the Winnipeg Jets, putting three past Connor Hellebuyck and adding an empty-netter to win 4-1 Tuesday, Dec. 3 in Winnipeg.

Both sides provided stingy defenses as the game went 38 minutes without a goal. Jordan Kyrou broke the deadlock with 1:56 left in the second when an attempt to clear Kyrou’s shot went off his shin and into the goal. The Blues added their second goal 39 seconds later with Dylan Holloway’s wrist shot. Kyrou added a second goal six-and-a-half minutes into the final frame, while Robert Thomas secured the empty-netter to ice the game. Mark Scheifele scored Winnipeg’s only goal with 4:15 remaining.

Joel Hofer saved 22 of Winnipeg’s shots on goal, while the Blues recorded 32 shots. The Blues are 3-0-1 since hiring Jim Montgomery as coach last week. Meanwhile, a Winnipeg squad that had been the league’s last undefeated team to start the season has now dropped four in a row, and have fallen out of first in the Central Division. The Blues are up to fifth in the Central with 26 points, two points behind the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. The Blues travel west to Calgary to face the Flames on Thursday night, with puck drop at 8 p.m.
