Colton Parayko pounced on an uncovered puck and finished Robert Thomas’s drive toward goal, notching the game-winner into the net halfway through the overtime period in the Saint Louis Blues’ 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Calgary.

The Blues only recorded 24 shots on goal, but set the pace with two goals in the first period. Zach Bolduc opened the scoring with a power play goal halfway through the first, followed by Thomas’ fourth goal of the year two minutes later. Calgary tied the game in the second on a power play. The Blues reclaimed the lead in the third with a wrist shot from Pavel Buchnevich, only for MacKenzie Weegar to tie the game back up for the Flames a minute later. Jordan Binnington recorded 36 saves in the winning effort.

The Blues are now level with Colorado on 28 points, but fifth in the Central Division as Colorado have three more wins in regulation. They’re also two points behind Edmonton for the second wild card spot. The Blues venture further north Saturday night to face the Oilers, with puck drop at 9 p.m.
