The St Louis Blues fell into a 3-0 deficit and weren’t able to recover, dropping a 4-2 decision on Saturday, DEc. 7 at Edmonton to the Oilers.

Dylan Holloway and Jake Neighbours recorded goals for the Blues in the third period, with Neighbours’ coming on the power play. Edmonton’s Connor McDavid tallied an unassisted goal in the second, then assisted Zach Hyman’s power-play goal later in the period. The Oilers opened the scoring 12 minutes into the game with a tip-in by Corey Perry. Troy Stecher’s first goal of the year squelched the Blues’ comeback effort and handed Jim Montgomery his first regulation loss as the Blues’ head coach.

The Blues remain fifth in the Central Division with 28 points. They’re now three points behind Calgary for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. The Blues remain north of the border Tuesday night, when they visit Vancouver.
