The Concordia R-II School Board approved a measure to renew the district’s liability insurance, but not before expressing concern about a second straight double-digit rate increase.

At Wednesday night’s meeting, board members agreed to the renewal with the Missouri United School Insurance Consortium (MUSIC). However, Superintendent Dr Theresa Christian says the district will likely put the contract out to bid for 2026, as this year’s price went up 37 percent.

Christian says the spike in costs isn’t limited to Concordia.

Also at Wednesday night’s meeting, the Concordia R-II School Board renewed a snow removal agreement with Maggert Lawn Care, and approved a lease agreement for ten acres north of the elementary school. The board also approved an addition to the student parent handbook concerning eligibility for the annual senior trip. Superintendent Christian adds that the board is expected to consider several items pertaining to upcoming construction projects at Concordia’s board meetings in January and February.
