The Sweet Springs Board of Education voted to renew the district’s insurance coverage during its meeting on Thursday, December 12.

The board voted in open session to renew the coverage the district has with the Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) for 2025. Superintendent Lori Price says this insurance covers general liability, school board liability, property and equipment, workers’ compensation and treasurer’s bond. It covers a calendar year as opposed to an academic school year.

In other news, the board approved the disposal or sale of surplus items that are no longer used by the maintenance and food service departments at the discretion of the superintendent. Those items will be listed and consists of an electric counter convection steamer, a large stand mixer with dough hook, whisk, and spatula attachments, a 7 by 18 enclosed cargo trailer, 12-6 feet by 32 inch wood tables, a simplicity riding mower, and a push mower.

The next regular scheduled meeting was set for 7 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025.
