The Sedalia City Council is expected to name Matthew Wirt the interim city administrator at their meeting scheduled for Monday, Dec. 16.
The expected move comes as outgoing city administrator Kelvin Shaw informed the council of his plans for retirement two weeks ago. Mayor Andrew Dawson says Shaw was worked tirelessly for the city since becoming administrator seven years ago.
Wirt is currently the assistant city manager. Dawson says Shaw’s decision to assume the title of Project Manager for the next year will allow the council to take their time in finding a permanent successor.
The Sedalia City Council will also have a pair of public hearings at the beginning of Monday’s meeting, fielding comments on items to address in the fiscal year 2026 budget and a proposed expansion of a redevelopment area.
