Jordan Kyrou scored for the fifth consecutive game, but his goal only denied the New Jersey Devils a shutout as the St Louis Blues fell 4-1 at home Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Kyrou’s goal came halfway through the third period, when he took a pass from Justin Faulk and sent his wrist shot from the right-hand circle past goalie Justin Markstrom. The goal was the only successful shot of the 20 attempted by the Blues, who were outclassed by the Devils throughout the night. Ondrej Palat, Stefan Noesen, and Brenden Dillon all scored for the Devils, while Jesper Bratt added an empty-netter with just over three minutes remaining.

The loss keeps the Blues on 33 points and sixth in the Central Division, five points behind Dallas for third and three points behind Calgary for the second wild card spot from the Western Conference. The Blues are back on the road Thursday night for a visit to the Tampa Bay Lightning; puck drop is at 6 p.m.
