The Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education approved additional seating at the district’s new athletic complex during their meeting Monday night.
The board agreed to the additions to the baseball, softball, and soccer complexes totaling $206,000. Superintendent Dr Todd Fraley explains that the initial design didn’t match the district’s expectations.
Also at Monday night’s meeting, the district approved a change order with PCE Construction for $220,000 to replace the gym floor at Smith-Cotton Junior High.
The total cost for renovations to the junior high now total $5,888,000.
Sedalia School Board members also received the district’s annual performance report, which indicated a slight increase from the previous year, and accepted a one-thousand dollar contribution from Nucor Steel for the annual Shop With A Cop, which involved 150 students. The board also discussed a petition to annex 18 acres recently acquired by the district into the City of Sedalia, and the prospect of adding an additional assistant track and field coach this spring who would focus on throwing events.
