Both Missouri Valley Viking soccer teams achieved top-15 finishes in the final NAIA Soccer Coaches Polls of the season.

The Viking men sit ninth in the final poll of the year, one of five teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the top 25. The Vikings advanced to the third round of the NAIA National Championship tournament, defeating Louisiana Christian 2-0 before falling 2-1 to conference foes MidAmerica Nazarene, who ranked eighth. William Penn, who defeated the Vikings for the Heart tournament title, finished national runners-up to Dalton State of Georgia following a scoreless draw settled by penalty kicks. Also in the ranking were Baker at 15th and Clarke in 23rd.

Missouri Valley men’s soccer finished the season with a 16-3-3 record, including an undefeated regular season in conference play. This is the 50th consecutive poll where the Viking men have been ranked in the Top 25, the third-longest active streak in the NAIA.

The women’s program finished the season ranked 14th. That’s an increase of three spots from the final regular season poll. The Vikings defeated Truett-McConnell 3-2 in the second round, then fell in Florida to the eventual runner-up Keiser in overtime, 3-2. The Vikings finish as the highest-ranked team from the Heart of America, with MidAmerica Nazarene positioned 16th and Central Methodist falling to 19th. Columbia College finished the season ranked third, having lost to Keiser in the semifinals.

Missouri Valley’s women finished the season with a 15-5-1 record, achieving their first regular season Heart of America conference title since 1993.
