The Odessa Board of Aldermen approved motion to enter into a municipal agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation for projects on Interstate-70 and the 131 Interchange during its most recent meeting.

The project plans include improve I-70 from Blue Springs to Odessa. The project will add a third lane each direction on Interstate 70 from just west of Missouri Route 7 in Blue Springs to just east of Johnson Drive in Odessa. The project also includes interchange improvements at MO 131 in Odessa. City Administrator Shawna Davis said this agreement outlines the relations and duties the city has with MoDOT.

Construction could start as early as summer 2025.

In other news, the board updated a Memorandum of Understanding with First Baptist Church in Odessa for the police department to provide security services on an event the church holds on Wednesdays, in addition to services on Sunday.
