
A Sedalia woman was arraigned Thursday, Dec. 26 on multiple charges of assault and armed criminal action.
Sedalia Police arrested 23-year-old Aliya Riggs on Sunday night after they were called to a residence near the corner of East 15th Street and South Marvin. According to their probable cause statement, police accuse Riggs of stabbing one resident in the leg and another in the shoulder. Police went on to say that the suspect tackled a third resident and began to hit her, but did not sustain visible injury. Both stabbing victims, who are described as non-verbal and autistic, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Riggs was detained and briefly screened at the hospital before she was taken to the Pettis County Jail. She faces two charges of first degree domestic assault and two counts of armed criminal action, along with a charge of third degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Bond was set at $100,000. Her next hearing is set for the afternoon of Jan. 7.
