
Dorothy L. “Dotty” Monroe, 98, of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Westport Estates Assisted Living in Marshall.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Born December 10, 1926, in Alta Vista, KS, she was the daughter of the late Fred V. Laverty and Ethel Susan Moore Laverty. Dotty was raised in Kansas and was a 1945 graduate of Parker High School in Parker, KS. On November 17, 1945, she married Donald George Monroe who preceded her in death on November 13, 1996. Dotty moved to Marshall in 1978 where she and her husband owned and operated Ivy Haven Motel for 18 years. In her younger years she was a member of the P.T.A., a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1945 where she was a past junior princess of Job’s Daughters, as well as being a member of the American Business Women’s Association. Dotty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall.
Dotty is survived by many friends who were like family to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and one son, James Donald “Jim” Monroe.
