Esther Rhea Peel, 85, of rural Slater, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at her home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Slater, with Rev. Terry Sandwith officiating. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery, with Austin Eddy, Joel Clements, Pat Miller, Tad Smith, Tedd Wiseman, and Sheldon Gerlt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Leimkuehler, Jeff Holt, Keith Clements, Joe Clements, Jr., and Alan Clements. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to Rehoboth Cemetery in care of Weiker Funeral Home.

Born June 10, 1939 north of Slater, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Catharine Winning Clements. On February 1, 1958 in Slater, she married James E. Peel, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1995.

She is survived by a son, Jim Ed Peel (Lori) of rural Slater; a daughter, Cindy Johnson (David) of rural Slater; five grandchildren, Brad Peel, David Johnson, James Johnson (Jennifer), Spencer Peel (Hailey), and Jensen Duenckel (Jordan); and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe M. Clements, Jack Clements, and William Edward Clements; and a sister, Alice Maud Phillips.

Mrs. Peel was a longtime member and pianist of the New Prospect Baptist Church north of Slater. She was a 1957 graduate of Slater High School. She had been a board member of the Rehoboth Cemetery Association. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Slater Cooperative #1, later Central Missouri AgriService, retiring in 2011 after forty years of service.
