The Green Ridge R-VIII School District Board of Education considered a pair of upgrades to their athletic facilities during their meeting last week.
The school board discussed a bid from Columbia Landscaping to add an irrigation system to the district’s soccer field. Superintendent Brett Hieronymus says the upgrades would bring the field in line with the rest of the Kaysinger Conference.
The bid also covers topdressing, leveling, aerating, seeding, and fertilizing the field, as well as a maintenance agreement. Hieronymus says the district would need to consult with the Green Ridge Recreation Organization before accepting the bid.
Also at last week’s board meeting, the school board approved plans to redo the gym floor. Henry Kraft will refinish the floor at a price tag of $4914. Hieronymus said the floor was last redone when the district’s previous bond measure passed.
The Green Ridge School Board also voted last week to discontinue the district’s community volleyball program, citing liability concerns. The board also discussed the possibility of entering into a co-op with La Monte for baseball in the spring. The school board is expected to re-evaluate the idea at their January meeting.
