John S. Cover, 98, of Sedalia, died Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.

Graveside services with military honors will be Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11:30 A.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Sandra Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Cover, Zane Rodriguez, John Cover, Joseph Rodriguez, Cobey Johnson, and Harrison Cover. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 until 11:15 A.M. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral chapel.

Born January 31, 1926 in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Beulah Lee Cover. On June 9, 1950 in Harrison, Arkansas, he married Virginia Ruth Ruffin, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2018.

He is survived by four children, Charles Chester Cover of Sedalia, John Russell Cover of Smithton, Kathi Johnson of Sedalia, and Cindy Cover of Columbia; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cover was U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and the Korean War. He was a member of the Sedalia Masonic Lodge #236 A.F.&A.M. He was a longtime owner and operator of Cover Construction Company until his retirement.
