Voters in the Green Ridge R-VIII School District will have a levy increase to consider on their April ballot.

The district’s school board voted in November to put forward the increase that will raise the tax rate to $4.95 per $100 of assessed valuation. Superintendent Brett Hieronymus says it’d be the first increase sought by Green Ridge in over a quarter-century.

Hieronymus says recent changes to state law are precipitating the need to increase the district’s incidental fund rate.

School board and municipal elections are set for April 8th.
