The Saline County Commission approved contracts for the wastewater treatment system and a portion of the collection system set for construction this year at the Marshall Junction.

At Thursday morning’s session, commissioners accepted the low bid of $3,282,000 from MegaKC to construct the treatment lagoon in the southeast quadrant of the junction. They also signed an agreement with Do-Rite Construction of Lincoln, the lone bidder on the collection system, to build part of the network. Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden explains that Do-Rite will build just one corner of the system at a price tag of $1,653,892.50.

Do-Rite’s bid for the entire collection network was $3,165,621.25. Gooden says initial work to connect the other quadrants of the Marshall Junction is already complete.

Contractors have 270 days to complete the work.

Also at the Jan. 2 session, commissioners approved a contract with CivicPlus to conduct an ADA compliance assessment of the county’s website, at an initial cost of $2270 dollars, and renewed their audit agreement with Gerding, Korte and Chitwood. Commissioners also approved new hires for the Saline County Sheriff’s Department and Common Road District. Monte Fenner was also sworn in for his fourth full term as Southern District Commissioner.
