Crews are working around the clock to treat roadways from interstates to county roads as this weekend’s winter storm continues to drop snow and sleet on the area.

The dividing line between snow and sleet has spent most of Sunday, Jan. 5 over Pettis County, where Eastern District Commissioner Israel Baeza is advising residents to stay off the roads.

Baeza expressed gratitude for the county’s crews who have braved the elements to treat the county’s roadways.

Commissioner Baeza adds that crews are utilizing a first-of-its-kind GPS routing system that allows them to treat roadways more efficiently, track salt usage, and reallocate crews to areas where more crews are needed.

Also out and about responding to conditions are linemen addressing power outages. The latest outage information is available through Evergy and the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives.
