The Mizzou Tigers scored the first 11 points and led wire-to-wire in an 83-67 win over LSU on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Mizzou Arena, posting the squad’s first win in SEC play in 675 days.

The black and gold Tigers forced the Bayou Bengals to turn over the ball seven times in the first nine minutes as they raced out to a 23-9 lead, leading at the half 42-27. Mizzou were relentless as LSU trailed by double digits throughout the second half, as Mizzou could coast to the 16-point win and improve to 12-3 overall, including a 1-1 mark in SEC play. Mizzou made 46 percent of their baskets from the field and outscored LSU on the glass 37-29. Tamar Bates led Mizzou with 20 points and was one of five Tigers in double figures, as Anthony Robinson tallied 16 and Marques Warrick added 12. Josh Gray recorded a team-leading 10 rebounds to ward off any LSU comeback effort.

The win is Mizzou’s first in conference play since defeating Tennessee in the 2023 SEC Tournament and going 0-19 against SEC teams during the 2024 campaign. Mizzou will look to create a league winning streak when Vanderbilt visit Mizzou Arena on Saturday; tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
