The Salisbury Board of Aldermen updated their hazard mitigation plan during last week’s meeting.

The board voted Thursday, Jan. 9 to approve the Chariton County multi-jurisdictional plan update. Mayor Steve Kacvinsky tells KMMO News the changes are necessary to reduce any delays in responding to disasters when they occur, as well as receiving state and federal aid to cover losses and other costs incurred. The board also approved an update for code enforcement procedures from the Green Hills Regional Planning Council. Kacvinsky says the updates define how the council’s three employees responsible for identifying code violations are to report issues. He stressed that the employees do not enforce code, but refer potential violations to local law enforcement.

Salisbury’s board was also scheduled to hear a report from the Salisbury Golf Course. However, a representative from the facility was unable to attend Thursday’s meeting. Kacvinsky says the board will hear the report at a later meeting.
