The Concordia School District Board of Education approved a motion to host summer school for elementary and high school students during its meeting on Friday, January 10.

Students reading two years below their grade level at the end of 3rd grade are required to attend summer school. Superintendent Theresa Christian says the district will continue to provide the same summer school opportunities its offered the past several years.

Summer school will be in session from May 28 to June 17 for the elementary school, and May 28 through August 2 for the high school.

In other news, Christian said seven candidates filed for the two board seats available on the April Municipal Election. The candidates include incumbent Nate Nelson, Scott Gard, Yvonne Mitkos, Paula Tyler, Ryan Maggert, Leslie Basye, and Ben Woods. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8.
