The Braymer C-4 School District has adopted a sportsmanship improvement plan aimed at addressing issues that have put the Bobcats’ conference membership in limbo.

Braymer’s school board adopted the policy at their meeting Monday night, days after their 11 counterparts in the Carroll-Livingston Activities Association suspended Braymer’s membership following incidents at pair of conference basketball contests last month. The new policy will require Braymer coaches to complete a sportsmanship course, and have law enforcement, multiple school administrators, and school board members positioned throughout the crowd to address any issues that arise. Additionally, visiting teams will utilize a separate entrance and escorted to and from their locker rooms by Braymer administrators.

The new policy also levies a four-game suspension for any spectator who confronts, curses, or directs inappropriate comments at the opposing team. Repeat offenders will be subject to a one-year ban from all Braymer activities. Athletes who violate the policy will be removed from their team immediately. Students, parents and their coaches are now required to sign a code of conduct agreement.

The policy was adopted ahead of the CLAA’s winter meeting Feb. 5, where Braymer’s future membership will be a topic of discussion. The basketball teams are currently excluded from the conference standings.

Braymer has posted the new policy on their website and social media channels:
