At least 20 people attended an open house Thursday, Jan. 16 at Northwest Elementary School, the second of two events Marshall Schools were hosting to gauge public input on what to do with two of the buildings set to close at the end of the year.

Supt. Caleb Petet tells KMMO News that while turnout was better than a similar event held when Southeast Elementary went offline, public response to a survey has thus far been light. He shares some of the sentiment among early responders.

Classes at Benton, Eastwood and Northwest schools will shift into the new intermediate school when it opens on the district’s Northeast Campus in August. Petet reflects on the memories that will stay with the buildings as they enter their next chapter.

Petet says the survey is open for another week and can be accessed on the Marshall Public Schools website.
